Each month the coaching staff at EHP selects a member that is “Better Than Yesterday!” The selected recipient is a great example of EHP’s CREDO—demonstrating compassion, honesty, resilience, perseverance, and tenacity. Josh Miosek was selected as June’s “Better Than Yesterday” recipient.
Why do you start CrossFit?
I have followed CrossFit for years and it was always intriguing to me because of the intensity that went with it. I was just always to scared and didn’t know there were scaled versions to help you reach your full potential at all levels. I owe my wife (who started before me at EHP) for the big push and support that she gave me to start my journey at EHP with the Men’s Bootcamp which then led into me signing a membership with EHP! I was losing mobility and strength even working in a demanding field of construction. I then moved into an office position and mobility decreased even more and the weight started to pile up quicker. I wanted to gain mobility back and start to control my weight along with becoming stronger.
Why do you continue CrossFit?
It is a place where I can go and there are coaches to guide me to being stronger, fitter and my mobility is becoming better with each week that I am there. The coaches, I cannot say enough about how the coaches are a huge factor in all of the advancements that are made. Their attention to detail and making sure the movements are done correctly so that there are no injuries and they know your full potential and will push you to this limit to make a person better than they were yesterday. Again, the coaches and the atmosphere are phenomenal at EHP.
Greatest achievement since starting CrossFit?
My greatest achievement would be that I have gotten over the fear that I feel like everyone is watching me and judging me in my movements or the amount of weight I am moving. I feel like I can be myself and perform to what my body can handle that day.
How has your life changed since joining EHP?
It has changed in the fact that I am more confident in the things I do on a daily basis. I have something in common that I can talk to my family about as we are all in physical exercise routines in one way or another. Also, I have gained a lot of new friends/acquaintances.
Anything else about yourself, fitness journey, or with EHP?
I just want to say that I really enjoy the people at EHP. All of the coaches here are very knowledgeable and EHP has a lot of resources to offer both mentally and physically.
