Each month the coaching staff at EHP selects a member that is “Better Than Yesterday!” The selected recipient is a great example of EHP’s CREDO—demonstrating compassion, honesty, resilience, perseverance, and tenacity. Danny Erickson was selected as May’s “Better Than Yesterday” recipient.

Why did you start CrossFit?
I was ready for a change in fitness. A class was offered while I was deployed overseas in 2021 in the Horn of Africa. I got the “CrossFit itch” right away.

Why do you continue CrossFit?
Continuing to pursue challenge. Many of the workouts are challenging and are certainly not workouts I would push myself to complete independently. CrossFit provides the venue, people, and motivation to pursue challenge.

What has been your greatest achievement since starting EHP?
I was selected to represent the Army National Guard as an athlete for the Endurance Team.

How has your life changed since joining EHP?
I’ve maintained a higher level of fitness year-round and have increased my joint health and mobility.

Anything else you would like to share about yourself, fitness journey and/or EHP.
I am passionate about fitness for two reasons: 1) it’s beneficial to me personally, and more importantly, 2) it supports my ability to set the example for the Soldiers I lead in my Company. As an Infantry Officer in a Combined Arms Battalion, I require much from my Soldiers, but if I can’t lead the way by being physically and mentally prepared for any mission, their willingness to follow is unlikely.

Congratulations, Danny! Keep up the great work!
