Each month the coaching staff at EHP selects a member that is “Better Than Yesterday!” The selected recipient is a great example of EHP’s CREDO—demonstrating compassion, honesty, resilience, perseverance, and tenacity. Scot Hagen was selected as March’s “Better Than Yesterday” recipient.
Why did you start CrossFit?
I was tired of the day in day out routine at the YMCA. I am a spin instructor at the Y, but I wanted more! I found an advertisement for the Boot Camp at EHP and I figured, WHY NOT!! The rest is history.
Why do you continue CrossFit?
I LOVE THE PEOPLE, first and foremost. The workouts are never the same and ALWAYS a challenge. Additionally, I love that there are scaled workouts and the coaches help you through whatever level you’re working at. On top of the workouts, EHP is a facility that has more than just a workout. I love the opportunity that we have chiropractic care, nutrition planning, physical therapy and mental health!
What has been your greatest achievement since starting EHP?
Since starting EHP, I have lost weight. One of the major factors in the weight loss was that I was diagnosed with diabetes. However, with the weight loss due to high blood sugar levels, I continued to gain muscle! That I would say is one of my greatest achievements.
How has your life changed since joining EHP?
EATING and ACTIVITY!!! My meal plan has helped me tremendously. Meal planning, recipes, portions, and the knowledge of nutrition. Especially since becoming diabetic, nutrition and the knowledge needed to prep meals has helped tremendously. My activity level has continued to improve. If i’m working around the house, helping people move, going up and down the steps at work, I don’t slow down compared to the others around me. That I find is a success and definitely life changing.

EHP is a community of family. I couldn’t have any of my successes without my EHP Family and the coaches, especially Coach Lucas and Dr. Karla!
