Each month the coaching staff at EHP selects a member that is “Better Than Yesterday!” The selected recipient is a great example of EHP’s CREDO—demonstrating compassion, honesty, resilience, perseverance, and tenacity. Megan Marschke was selected as July’s “Better Than Yesterday” recipient.

Why did you start CrossFit?
I started CrossFit in 2015 after I had recently graduated from college and played 4 years of collegiate basketball. After I graduated, I did the globo-gym life and ran a few half marathons, but I wasn’t getting the most out of my fitness. I was bored and I wanted to do more. I was still too competitive. I started seeing clips/videos on Instagram of CrossFit workouts or lifts so I did a free week membership at a local gym, and I was hooked!

Why do you continue CrossFit?
I continued going to daily CrossFit classes for several reasons, even when I moved back to MN. First, was the daily challenge and the ease of just showing up to class and being guided through a warmup and workout (as compared to when I was going to a globo gym and had to program for myself). I was very ‘raw’ when I started so each class/workout I did, I was improving, getting better, getting stronger! Second, was the people! At my first CrossFit gym, I became friends with those that I worked out with and we would hang out outside of the gym too (almost 10 years later I am still friends with some of them in AZ). Then at EHP, the community and culture here can’t be matched anywhere else you go! I have too many relationships and friends at EHP to name!

What has been your greatest achievement since starting EHP?
I don’t know if I have one ‘greatest’ or ‘best’ achievement and instead have several small ones. An achievement that I look forward to each year is the Open and participating alongside everyone at the gym in FNL. My first year in the Open, I finished in the 90th percentile. In my peak fitness, I finished in the 98th percentile. Doing the Open each year is a great way to demonstrate your hard work and improvements year over year and see your progress on the worldwide leaderboard. Other achievements that are memorable for me are all of the various opportunities I have had to compete and represent EHP. I have travelled to several competitions across the country. Qualifying (earning a spot) at each event is an achievement and coming home after doing your best on the competition floor is an achievement!

How has your life changed since joining EHP?
The best way that EHP changed my life was introducing me to Jordan so many years ago when we were both baby CrossFitters coming to class every single day with our OG 5:30am classmates. Fast forward to now, we are both still members and married with a 15 month old future EHPer running around at home! Outside of that obvious answer of how EHP has changed me, I would also add that EHP has made me more accountable and to have good practices in place for time management – in all aspects of life. Accountable to show up and put in the work every day to be a better friend, peer, wife and mom. Planning ahead and managing my time like a pro to schedule time to workout (either at 5am or lunch hour or evenings) to get it done in all the chaos.

Anything else you would like to share about yourself, fitness journey and/or EHP:
Not necessarily about myself or my journey, but instead maybe commentary or advice for others in the beginning or middle of their fitness journey. Just keep showing up and being consistent and you will reach your goals (no matter what they are). You may need to get up at 4:30am or schedule a meeting with yourself to hold yourself accountable to workout (literally put it on your calendar and treat it as if it’s an actual work meeting) like I do, but just do it consistently. Find what motivates you and use it every day to stay focused to help you achieve those goals. Consistency is key and it will help you become Better Than Yesterday!
