Each month the coaching staff at EHP selects a member that is “Better Than Yesterday!” The selected recipient is a great example of EHP’s CREDO—demonstrating compassion, honesty, resilience, perseverance, and tenacity. Jayce Johnson was selected as December’s “Better Than Yesterday” recipient.

Why did you start CrossFit?
I started CrossFit, because I felt kinda lost after college sports not having something to compete in and do with my newfound free time. I saw one of the fittest documentaries about Rich Froning, and seeing how CrossFit had a little bit of everything I thought it looked awesome and instantly fell in love with it when I started doing it!!

Why do you continue CrossFit?
I think it’s the best overall way and most fun way to train, Nearly all of the movements are transferable to everyday life, and I want to stay as healthy and fit as possible for as long as possible. The other reason is the community, you don’t see the friendship and comrade at any other type of gym. All of the members cheer for and push each other to be better athletes and better people both inside and outside the gym

What has been your greatest achievement since starting EHP?
Being able to represent EHP in our locally hosted Holiday Throwdown was pretty dang awesome, I also recently hit the most I have ever squatted post back injury which was pretty cool.

How has your life changed since joining EHP?
I have gained a ton of friendships and an expanded community since joining EHP, that will continue far beyond the gym and for that I will be forever thankful… CrossFit truly is family.

Anything else you would like to share about yourself, fitness journey and/or EHP.
Continue to do hard things both inside and out of the gym. You will not only improve but learn a ton about yourself and abilities, we are all far more capable than we think, continue to do hard things and great things will come.
